With 2024 nearing its end, all major flagship smartphones have launched, including Apple’s iPhone 16. Apple introduced a new camera control button on all iPhone 16 models, and while it’s a fun addition, some areas could use refinement.
Uncomfortable Placement
The camera control button is located on the lower half of the right side of the iPhone 16's flat frame. Unfortunately, this position makes it easy to press accidentally and challenging to use in landscape mode without blocking the screen.
Accessibility in Different Orientations
Using the camera control button is simpler in portrait mode, but in landscape mode, it becomes awkward to reach. Accidental presses while raising the phone can also unintentionally unlock the device.
Physical Button Causes Camera Shake
The button requires enough pressure that it can cause a slight shake, which may blur photos, especially in low-light conditions. Adjusting the button sensitivity helps a bit but doesn’t fully resolve the issue.
A Fun Addition With Room for Improvement
While the camera control button is an enjoyable feature, it’s not perfect. The placement could be improved, and the pressure required may lead to issues with camera shake. With a few tweaks, it could become a fantastic photography tool on the iPhone.
