The "AirPlay" feature initially worked exclusively with Apple devices, but Apple expanded its compatibility to include smart TVs and speakers from other brands (Social Media).

Apple provides an easy-to-use feature in its devices called AirPlay, allowing you to wirelessly stream content from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac directly to your TV. AirPlay is a wireless communication protocol developed by Apple, designed to transmit videos, photos, music, and even your device’s entire screen to compatible receivers.

Initially, AirPlay was only available for Apple devices, but the feature has since expanded to support smart TVs and speakers from other popular brands due to the rising demand. If you have a recent smart TV from a major brand like Sony, Samsung, or LG, you can seamlessly connect your iPhone or iPad to stream content.

How to Use AirPlay

To stream audio or video from your iPhone or iPad to any device supporting AirPlay, follow these steps:

  1. Open Control Center on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap on the AirPlay icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select your target device from the list, which could be a smart TV, a compatible speaker, or even a Mac computer.

Streaming from a Mac is similar, with a few key differences. To stream a video from your Mac, start by playing the video in Safari or your preferred media app. Once the video begins, look for the AirPlay icon, click it, and then choose your desired receiver.

If the AirPlay icon isn’t visible in the media player, you can mirror your entire Mac screen to your TV:

  1. Click on the Control Center icon in the upper-right corner of your screen.
  2. Select Screen Mirroring.
  3. Choose your compatible device, such as a smart TV. You can then decide whether to extend your Mac’s display or mirror it exactly.

This versatile feature makes streaming content across devices seamless and efficient.
