The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is Google’s second foldable phone, and it shows remarkable improvements compared to the first model, the Google Pixel Fold. This device might just be the foldable phone you’ve been waiting for.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold takes a unique design approach with an aluminum frame and curved edges on one side, making the phone stand out. The external display is 6.3 inches, while the foldable internal screen measures 8 inches.

In a comprehensive comparison by The Sun between Google's Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Samsung's latest foldable device, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the key differences between these two high-end smartphones were highlighted.

Design

According to The Sun, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a more traditional width when folded, unlike the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is slimmer and taller, making it a bit easier to hold.

However, Samsung takes the win in terms of weight, with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 weighing 239 grams, while the Pixel weighs 257 grams. Despite the weight, the Pixel is thinner when both folded and unfolded.

Performance and Features

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is powered by Google's custom Tensor chip, while the Galaxy Z Fold 6 features the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. However, most users may not notice much difference in day-to-day performance, as both devices handle apps smoothly.

A key feature of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is its split-screen mode, allowing two apps to run simultaneously, but Samsung’s device goes a step further, allowing three apps to run at once.

Both phones run on Android 14, but if an upgrade to Android 15 happens, the Pixel is expected to receive it before Samsung’s Galaxy.

Battery Life

Interestingly, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a smaller battery compared to other Pixel 9 models. Nonetheless, its efficient technology ensures it comfortably lasts a full day of streaming, browsing, and messaging.

According to The Sun, it takes the Pixel just over an hour to fully charge its battery, thanks to its 21W charging capability. However, this is slower than other Pixel models and slower than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which offers 25W charging. Additionally, the Pixel lacks reverse wireless charging, a feature available on Samsung’s device for charging other gadgets.

Camera

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold comes with unique camera features, most notably the “Add Me” feature, which allows the photographer to magically add themselves to group photos.

Another exclusive feature is Made You Look, which displays fun animations on the external screen, designed to capture children’s attention so they look toward the camera.

These features are only available on the Pixel, making it stand out in terms of camera capabilities.

Price

The only downside to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is its steep price, coming in at $1,799, which may deter some from trying foldable devices.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is equally powerful, is priced at $1,899, making the price difference between the two minimal.

In conclusion, both the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 offer excellent performance, but Google’s improvements in design and camera features, along with its slightly lower price, make the Pixel 9 Pro Fold a compelling option in the foldable phone market.
