The neural engine integrated into the 10th generation of the Apple Watch can effectively reduce background noise during phone calls.

Apple recently announced its latest smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 10, which includes a variety of new features, one of the most notable being its noise-cancellation technology that enhances audio quality during phone calls.

According to Apple, the neural engine embedded in the 10th generation of the smartwatch can reduce background noise during phone calls or FaceTime audio calls, ensuring the user’s voice is clearer and more distinct to the other party.

This feature is especially effective in noisy environments, such as windy outdoor areas or crowded restaurants, as noted by the company.

It is worth mentioning that this noise-cancellation feature is not available in the previous Series 9 or older models of the Apple Watch, but it is included in the Apple Watch Ultra 2, which also offers wind noise reduction during calls.

As for iPhones, Apple already provides a noise isolation feature during phone calls, and all four models of the iPhone 16 series include a new feature specifically designed to reduce wind noise during calls.

Apple states that its machine-learning algorithms help minimize wind noise, further improving audio clarity.

In addition to this, Apple has also made design improvements to the new watch, which features a larger display and a thinner profile compared to its predecessor. The Series 10 also introduces sleep apnea detection, a feature that Apple plans to extend to both Series 9 and Ultra 2 models.

The Apple Watch Series 10 is set to be released at the end of September 2023, starting at a price of $400.
