The emerging AI technology company, Nomi AI, is developing a platform that focuses on specific areas to provide more accurate answers to users' questions, as reported by the German News Agency.

While the popular AI platform ChatGPT from OpenAI explores everything from math problems to historical research to provide answers, Nomi's platform targets a specific scenario—AI companions. It takes additional time to craft a better response by remembering previous interactions, which leads to more precise answers.

Alex Cardinell, the CEO of Nomi AI, explained in an interview with the tech site TechCrunch, "We use the same principles as OpenAI, but with a stronger focus on what our users actually care about, which is the memory and emotional intelligence aspect of things. Other AI platforms operate through a chain of thought, but we function more like a chain of reflection or memory."

It is worth noting that large language models, the key component of AI technology, break down complex user queries into smaller questions.

For OpenAI, this process involves breaking down complex mathematical problems into individual steps, allowing the language model to work in the background and explain how to arrive at the correct solution. This makes AI less prone to confusion and providing incorrect answers.

However, Nomi, which has developed its own large language model, trains it to handle questions and problems based on past memories and circumstances, which leads to a different approach to problem-solving.

For instance, if a user tells Nomi that they had a difficult day at work and wants to understand why, the platform will remember that the user feels uncomfortable around a certain colleague. It might then ask the user whether their day was difficult due to that colleague, before reminding them how they had successfully reduced personal conflicts at work in the past, offering practical advice on how to handle the colleague in question.

Cardinell emphasized, "AI platforms remember everything, but the key role of AI is to identify which memories can actually be used."
